Dr. Maren von Fritschen
Dr. Maren von Fritschen is a trusted and influential expert in Regulatory Affairs and Regulatory Science, with longstanding experience in the life sciences and healthcare sector. Trained as a pharmacist, she holds a PhD in Natural Sciences and has built a distinguished career at the intersection of regulatory science, policy, academia, and practice.
At HTW Berlin, Dr. von Fritschen leads the Regulatory Affairs unit of both the International Master’s Program Life Science Management and the national Master’s program Life Science Engineering. She designed and coordinates a comprehensive curriculum consisting of eight modules, covering the full development lifecycle of medicinal products and medical devices—from early research and development to regulatory approval and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) to market access. Her teaching integrates regulatory science research, EU policy frameworks, and applied case studies, preparing students for professional and academic careers in healthcare.
In addition to teaching, Dr. von Fritschen is actively engaged in regulatory science research and knowledge dissemination. She is the author and co-author of publications spanning regulatory science, gene and advanced therapies, sustainable use of medicines, and medicinal products, and regularly contributes to international expert discussions and scientific forums. Through her professional roles and academic collaborations, she maintains a broad European network across regulatory authorities, academia, industry, and professional associations, supporting interdisciplinary dialogue and research in regulatory science.
Alongside her academic work, Dr. von Fritschen has held senior leadership roles in the pharmaceutical sector, most recently as Head of Regulatory Policy Europe at Moderna, and previously in regulatory and policy roles within international organizations and consultancies. She was honored with the DIA Global Inspire Award – Global Connector (2021) in recognition of her contributions to cross-sector collaboration and regulatory dialogue.
A frequent speaker, moderator, and trainer at international forums including DIA, TOPRA, RAPS, and GPRAS, Dr. von Fritschen brings a culturally agile and international perspective shaped by living and working in Brazil and the Netherlands.
