Ph.D. Soham Saha

Soham Saha, Ph.D. brings a blend of academic and industry experience to the classroom. With over ten years of expertise in neuroscience, pharmaceutical sciences, and biomedical research, he co-founded and leads Medinsights, a health and biomedical data analytics firm at the forefront of healthcare innovation. 

As the CEO of Medinsights, Dr. Saha oversees a team of scientists, data scientists, and business experts, transforming complex healthcare data into actionable insights for clients in the pharmaceutical, medical technology, and biotechnology sectors. Medinsights’ work focuses on discovering new therapeutic targets and solutions, leveraging the latest research and methodologies to solve real-world health challenges. 

In his time at IPSEN pharma, he leveraged his scientific expertise to evaluate and develop early-phase treatments for rare genetic diseases. He spearheaded communication of research protocols and analyses, ensuring adherence to guidelines. The work involved collaboration across internal (Medical Affairs, R&D, and Business Development/ External Innovation) and external partners (KOLs and CROs), along with utilizing text mining and NLP for scientific insights. Additionally, he conceptualized and built a comprehensive rare disease database, encompassing various therapeutic modalities aligned with strategic focus areas. 

Soham did his Ph.D. thesis in the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. His thesis was on deciphering the complexities of learning and memory through simultaneous live animal behavior and neuronal imaging. He also worked on preclinical gut-brain models of mood disorders, stress and aging, designing and leading the bioinformatics and analytics effort for the team. He also worked in psychiatry and helped design a machine learning based diagnostic model of human bipolar disorder from patient self-reports.
